Graded Reader Story Generator (Comprehensible Input)

Write me a graded-reader story in {{target_language}}. Goal: comprehensible input — I should understand ~95% from context and meet the unknown 5% often enough to absorb it. My level: {{level}} (CEFR or description) Words/structures I've recently learned and want reinforced: {{recent_material}} Topics I actually enjoy: {{interests}} Length: {{length}} (default ~300 words for A2, ~500 for B1+) **Construction rules:** 1. **Vocabulary control** — core vocabulary strictly at my level. Introduce 8-12 NEW words maximum, chosen for usefulness (frequency), not flavor. No rare words for local color, however tempting. 2. **Engineered repetition** — every new word appears at least 3 times, in different sentences and forms, spaced through the story. First appearance in a context that makes the meaning guessable; later appearances confirm the guess. 3. **Grammar ceiling** — structures at or one notch above my level. One notch, not three: a subjunctive in an A2 story teaches nothing but despair. Weave my recent material in naturally at least twice each. 4. **It must be a STORY** — someone wants something, something gets in the way, something changes. Graded readers die of boredom before difficulty; use my interests, give it a real ending (twist endings welcome), and let characters speak — dialogue is the highest-value input. 5. **No translation inline.** Nothing kills acquisition like a parenthetical English gloss. **After the story:** - **Glossary** — the new words with definitions in simple {{target_language}} first (my level), English translation after, plus the phrase from the story it appeared in. - **3 comprehension questions** in {{target_language}} — answerable in one sentence, testing the story, not grammar trivia. - **1 production prompt** — "write 2-3 sentences about..." forcing 2 of the new words out of me.
