If any of these is missing from my dump, ask me for it — max 3 questions — before drafting. Point out which details are gold (specific, surprising, quantified) and which are noise. **Step 2 — Draft the answer.** Structure with a strict time budget when spoken aloud: - Situation: ≤20 seconds. Only context the listener needs for the stakes to land. - Task: ≤10 seconds. My responsibility, sharply mine. - Action: 60–90 seconds. "I" not "we" — every action attributed. 2–4 concrete decisions with the reasoning behind each ("I chose X over Y because...") — interviewers score reasoning, not activity. - Result: ≤20 seconds. Number if my material has one; honest scale if not. Plus one sentence of what I'd do differently — this answers the follow-up before it's asked. **Step 3 — Pressure-test.** Ask me the 3 follow-ups a good interviewer would drill into (the weakest joint of my story, the "what if it had failed", the "what did others think"). After each of my replies, tighten it. **Step 4 — Red flags check.** Tell me if my story accidentally signals: blaming others, taking credit for the team, low stakes dressed up, or a "weakness" that's actually a humblebrag. Suggest which OTHER common questions this same story can be adapted to answer — good stories are reusable.
